EXPERIENCE

Called to the Malaysian Bar in 2018, Ms. Ho Yi Yern was made partner of Gibb & Co. in 2024 before joining Azhar & Goh in her current capacity. She serves as Head of Family Law, Succession & Estate Administration Practice, bringing specialised expertise to one of the most personal areas of legal practice.

Ho is committed to providing personalised legal services specifically tailored to each client’s unique circumstances and has developed extensive experience in family law and estate matters, representing both Malaysian and international clients. Her practice encompasses diverse family-related legal needs, from representing parents in adoption proceedings to advising elderly clients on retirement planning and advance healthcare directives. She has particular expertise in serving high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals in sophisticated wealth planning and estate distribution strategies.

Beyond her commercial practice, Ho demonstrates remarkable commitment to social justice as Head of Pro Bono & Charitable Works. She provides pro bono legal assistance through her role as a panel lawyer for the Refugees and Asylum-Seekers Legal Aid Scheme (RALAS), launched jointly by the UNHCR and the Bar Council Legal Aid Centre. She also serves on the volunteer panel with the Penang Legal Aid Centre, focussing on citizenship rights and statelessness matters.

Ho has achieved notable success alongside the Managing Partner in representing stateless children in their pursuit of Malaysian citizenship, contributing to life-changing outcomes for vulnerable individuals. Her active participation in legal empowerment programmes demonstrates her dedication to expanding access to justice and legal education within the community.

As a member of prestigious international organisations including the Worldwide International Lawyers League (WILL), Malaysian Collaborative Practice Group (MCPG) and International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP), Ho maintains connections with global best practices in collaborative family law and continues to advance her expertise through professional development and knowledge sharing.
